Marianne Lownsborough (Maz)
Integrative psychotherapist in advanced training.
Training with the Scarborough Institute for counselling and psychotherapy.
Member of UKCP. United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.
I have worked with children and young people for over 30 years. Initially qualified in Playwork then with further qualifications in Therapeutic Playwork, Psychology and Adult Education.
In 1990 I worked in Romania managing a charity's work in a hospital/orphanage for over 2 years, involved for a further 20 years in a supporting role. I have also worked in residential child care and been part of teams establishing and managing provisions for children and young people in both rural and inner-city areas.
In 2004 I became the founder and director of Playscape Training which included working with 16 to 25 years olds helping them progress in their chosen career until Playscape ceased trading in 2017 when the work was passed over to a college provider.
Having written courses and taught about behaviour, bullying and self-esteem, and through my own personal journey I have come to appreciate the need to be in contact with our emotions in a safe therapeutic relationship. We can find the answers and take back control if we are only given the opportunity to do so. o
